VIDEO PROJECTS
FAMILIAS EN ACCIÓN

The Project
Familias en Acción is a culturally specific organization that promotes health and wellbeing of Latino/x/e communities and families in Oregon.
One of Familias en Acción’s core programs is their Climate & Health Equity initiative. For the organization’s 2023 and 2024 Latino Health Equity Conferences, we produced miniature documentaries on their key topics “Building Climate Resilience” and “Reproductive Justice.” In addition to creating these in-depth documentaries, we also produced promotional content and filmed the event itself. Our team collaborated with organizations across Oregon to craft a highly customized narrative, blending interviews, archival content, and original animations to tell a compelling and impactful story.
Alongside these projects, we’ve also worked with Familias en Acción to produce an organizational overview video that highlights their mission, impact, and the communities they serve. This video was designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the organization’s work.

Our Approach
The main driver of the documentaries is told through interviews that showcase personal stories from individuals in the Latino/x/e community in Oregon, illustrating how they have been affected by challenges with climate change and reproductive health issues. These stories offer insights into how communities are adapting to and coping with the impact of environmental changes or healthcare barriers.
In addition to these documentaries, we also produced an organizational overview video for Familias en Acción, highlighting their mission, programs, and the vital role they play in supporting Latino/x/e communities in Oregon. Media produced for Familias en Acción was repurposed for continued engagement through social media platforms, extending the reach of the message and fostering ongoing connection with their audience.
Our project priorities included:
- Community education
- Resilience through storytelling
- Cultivating active hope
- Encouraging people to attend the upcoming conference
- Invoking a deeper level of engagement from event attendees
- Increasing engagement from followers
We filmed for four days at multiple locations throughout Oregon. Our production staff included a fluent Spanish speaker, ensuring cultural relevance and accessibility. We coordinated narrative planning and interviews to use in the short-length documentary, and also provided original graphics and photos. The final deliverables included videos with English and Spanish subtitles, one 60-second cut for social media, and a 30-second promotional video for the event.
2023 Conference Event Promo
The 2023 conference promo video was created to promote the event focused on climate resilience with a particular emphasis on the impact of climate change on Latino/x communities in Oregon. The video encourages viewers to attend and engage in this culturally specific conversation about building community resilience in the face of environmental challenges.
Cultivating Reproductive Justice
The short documentary on reproductive justice addressing the intersection of healthcare access and social equity. The doc emphasizes the importance of reproductive justice within the Latino/x community of Oregon and the need for community-led solutions.
